Prevention of accidents in farming

Too many occupational accidents occur in agriculture. To deal with this issue and help the victims, we offer free independent advice to our customers.

A safer work life in agriculture

Agriculture is one of the most dangerous industries to work in. More accidents occur in agriculture than other industries - many of these are severe.

As the leading insurance company in the agricultural sector, we want to help make working life safer for Danish farmers and reduce the high number of accidents at work. That is why, together with SEGES, a professional knowledge and innovation house under Agriculture & Food, we have developed the service concept ‘Working life’.

Facts

In 2023, Topdanmark gave 25 agricultural customers free independent advice via a working environment consultant after an accident.

Free advice with occupational injury insurance

With ‘Working Life’, customers with an occupational injury insurance can get free independent advice from a work environment consultant if an accident has occurred, either for the customer himself or for employees. This also applies to minor work accidents.

The counselling takes place where the accident took place, and a plan is made for how to avoid a similar accident in the future through relevant efforts. The customer can also get help to handle the practicalities in connection with the accident, e.g. when the Danish Working Environment Authority pays a visit.

New solutions

In 2023, Topdanmark started offering more solutions in terms of prevention to all agricultural customers. Among other things, we offer thermal imaging, where we go through the entire property and possibly detect leaks and other potential damages.

Furthermore, in 2023, we started to look into the potential benefits of using exoskeletons as a preventive measure for those customers who have physically demanding and repetitional work. Exoskeletons can relieve in heavy lifting as well as relieving backs, knees and shoulders.

We already use exoskeletons for customers who have suffered an injury - and with great success. We are now looking into using exoskeletons as a preventive measure, since we believe that this can help preventing physical erosion.

Advice helps both agricultural customers and Topdanmark

When we help our customers, especially in the agricultural sector, to reduce the number of accidents at work, we make an effort to break with the current negative statistics. Counselling is an integral part of our business model, as accident prevention for our customers also contributes to fewer insurance cases and happier, healthier customers.
