Increased focus on repair and reuse

Society is facing environmental challenges which are, among other things, due to excessive consumption of resources which puts pressure on nature. We want to contribute to solutions through our products and services, and the way we handle claims.

Society is facing environmental challenges which are, among other things, due to excessive consumption of resources which puts pressure on nature. We want to contribute to solutions through our products and services, and the way we handle claims.

Sustainability in claims handling

Topdanmark processes a great deal of claims annually, e.g. cars, buildings, furniture, objects and IT equipment where we either pay out an amount to buy a new item or pay for repair. We integrate climate and environmental considerations into the claims handling process by e.g. promoting recycling and repair and focus on CO2 reduction when cleaning damaged buildings.

More repairs and more reuse

Through repair and reuse we seek to reduce negative impact on the environment in our claims handling.

We seek to repair car windows after damage. This also applies for electronics, including computers, telephones and tablets, which we prioritise repairing rather than just replacing.

We have initiated a pilot project on the return of smartphones in the cases where the customer has received cash indemnity. The aim is to sell spare parts for recycling.

We support UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 12

Our work on ensuring more repair and reuse, and less replacements to new products of e.g. bicycles supports UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production.
