Data can allay the customer’s concerns

We know that many customers are concerned about water damages, because their water pipes are old and hidden. The water rarely seeps out a visible place, so it can be difficult to assess whether you are on the safe side and live in a leakage-free home. With the water leak detector, LeakBot, we set the customer’s mind at rest, because it detects leakage on the household water installation.

LeakBot is an example of how we use technology to prevent damages and help the customer. The distribution of sensors which can register information on consumption, air quality, smoke, sound etc. provides good conditions for new business models that can prevent accidents and thus add value to the customer. So, by using new technologies to collect data, we help the customer with more than just insurances.

"Having a water damage is hard on the families, and for that reason we really want to help the customer avoid it. In Topdanmark, we work with great focus on IoT initiatives that can prevent damages and make everyday life a little easier. And LeakBot is a great example of this"

LeakBot, the intelligent tell-tale

The intelligent water leak detector, LeakBot, is easily clipped on to the main water pipe leading water into the house. From here, it monitors whether the home has leakages by measuring the temperature of the water pipe and in the room. If LeakBot detects unusual water consumption, it will alert the customer, who without any extra expenses can book a plumber directly via the app from iHomes Nordic, the company behind LeakBot. The accompanying plumbing service works as a workman subscription in which the customer for a monthly fee can call for help if the LeakBot sends an alarm. The service includes working hours and standard materials for visible household water installations. This way, the customer also avoids waste of water related to running toilets and dripping taps

”I didn’t think it would be worthwhile to have the plumber come over, as we didn’t know of any problems. Oh boy, we were wrong! The plumber found three leakages which could have caused us problems. In addition to a check valve we did not know of. I was very impressed”
