The slurry tank is online

We believe that the most efficient prevention and the best solutions are developed in close collaboration with the customers and relevant players in their ecosystem. Together with SEGES, we have developed a digital solution which helps the farmers monitor the level in the slurrytanks. The solution has a damage preventing effect and makes life a little easier on the farmers. And not least, it helps protect the environment.

A damage with many consequences

Damages to the slurry tank often happen when the slurry level is critically low. Pressure from the groundwater can cause cracks in the tank, which can be of great inconvenience to the farmer and a high-cost business for the insurance company. Furthermore, it has severe negative consequences if slurry seeps out in the ground.

"We endeavour to make it easy for our customers, and to provide relevant knowledge and advice on prevention wherever the customers are. Therefore, we are pleased to have our good collaboration with SEGES that now also gives us access to Landmand.dk which many farmers use daily"
ANDERS VRAA DEPUTY GENERAL MANAGER AT TOPDANMARK

Always an eye on the tank

The solution for the slurry tank, which we have developed together with SEGES, helps monitor the level of slurry and enables damage prevention. It works by accessing data from the farmer’s sensor on the slurry tank which is then collected and processed by an IoT-platform (Internet of Things). Hereafter, the results are available for the farmer at Landmand.dk. Of course, it requires that the farmer has signed up for the solution. Furthermore, the farmer will receive a SMS if the level of slurry in the tank drops drastically. At Landmand.dk, the farmers can already check various relevant data on their farms, and they have easy access to relevant collaboration partners and suppliers. The farmers can also receive advice on damage prevention from Topdanmark.

Digital overview prevents damages

The direct access to data on the capacity of a given slurry tank makes it easier to plan the handling of the slurry and the usage on the fields. The farmers also get a sure indication on when not to add more slurry to the tank, and if the level is becoming critically low. This way, we can avoid damages and slurry spillage. According to our plan, the solution should be implemented at a large number of farmers during 2020. Hereafter, a thorough evaluation will be carried out.

Facts

The solution is developed together with SEGES, a knowledge- and innovation house that works with everything to do with farming. SEGES is part of The Danish Agriculture & Food Council.
